Carmarthenshire Coat of Arms

The Coat of Arms for Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire was granted arms in 1935. In 1974 the county was absorbed into Dyfed. When Carmarthenshire was recreated in 1996 the old arms were allowed with the addition of supporters.

The arms combine the traditional arms of the kings of South Wales with the red Welsh dragon. The red dragon appears again as crest and dexter supporter. The sinister supporter is a sea horse suggesting the County's maritime heritage.

Each IBD County Page has or will have (where possible) the relevant Coat of Arms. This is made possible thanks to a fantastic heraldry website called the International Civic Heraldry Website. Sometimes a description is not given due to lack of information, so if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. You may visit this superb site by using the link below.
