Referrals from other General Dental Practitioners, or GDP's will be accepted for surgical and restorative implantology, specialist orthodontic treatment, minor oral surgery and periodontal services. The oral surgery and implantology can be carried out under sedation. We have been extremely selective in our choice of dental professionals, and have assembled a team of the highest quality whilst only recruiting people we feel are approachable and understanding.

John Scholey, Registered Specialist In Orthodontics (BDS, FDS RCS (Edin), FDS (Orth) RCS (Edin),MOrth RCS (Edin), MOrth RCS (Eng), MDentSci) is the clinical director of orthodontic services at Albert Place Dental Referral Centre. He is a consultant orthodontist at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire and Mid Staffordshire Foundation Trust, where he treats complex multidisciplinary cases. He is able to offer a comprehensive assessment and discussion about orthodontic treatment options for children and adults, with a range of appliance systems to suit the clinical need and cosmetic requirements of the individual. John is also happy to provide adjunctive plans and joint consultations with referring general dental practitioners for more complex cases.

Albert Place dental referral Centre specialises in Invisalign (sometimes wrongly spelt 'invisaline'). The revolutionary Invisalign system for straightening crooked teeth and closing gaps between teeth. In many cases it can replace the need for traditional metal-wire braces that have long been used in traditional orthodontic practices. The system utilises the latest in computerised technology and three dimensional modelling to generate a series of clear, see-through aligners or "clear braces".

Albert Place Dental Referral Centre has a team of three highly skilled and committed dental implantologists led by Dr Stephen Kelso. Steve began his oral and maxillofacial training in 1998 and shortly after this he began placing and restoring implants in both private practice and the hospital setting.

The high expectations of today's well educated and informed patients demands an integrated approach to implantology. Traditionally, dental implants have been placed by oral surgeons with little knowledge and understanding of the demands of restorative dentistry. If this is the case, then the position of the implant can limit the aesthetics of the final result. At Albert Place we are able to do things differently because, as well as being highly trained and accomplished implantologists, all of our implant surgeons are dentists with a sound restorative background.

Periodontal Disease Periodontist Treatments

Treatment of advanced chronic periodontal disease can be a minefield for todays general dental practitioner or GDP. The more we know about perio, the more we understand about it's unpredictability. At Albert Place Dental Referral Centre, we have devised a tried and tested treatment option, which we have now decided offer to our referring dental practices. The treatment starts with an information leaflet (supplied free of charge) explaining the situation to the patient and outlining possible ways to proceed. If the patient and GDP decide that further treatment would be appropriate then a referral can be made for a package of treatment, which assumes that the diagnosis of chronic periodontal disease has already been made.

Oral Surgery

Oral surgery can create problems for general practitioners and patients alike, and this can interfere with more creative and rewarding treatment plans. The extraction of wisdom teeth for example is not a good "practice builder". Patients can be anxious and may be in pain whilst waiting to climb the NHS waiting list. At Albert Place we have a friendly and experienced team, lead by Dr Robin Carson, to deal with your oral surgery needs. Because of the convenient referral system and easy communication, your patient will get the oral treatment they need when they need it most.

GDP Referrals to Albert Place Dental Referral Centre

Ease of use is another priority at Albert Place, and we fully understand the pressures of general practice. It is our aim to relieve some of these pressures not to add to them! Your referral can be accepted by post or email or via our website. Please register your details and you will receive one of our customised referral packs with printed "tick-the-box" forms and reply-paid envelopes. There is an editable PDF form if you wish to go the email route and all this will be supplemented by a direct mobile phone line to our very experienced patient coordinator, Donna Ferguson. If you have a problem, she will sort it out!
