Novanutri NHSteps Natural Alternative to HRT
10 years ago Yvette Hastings faced countless years of feeling awful...
I'm Yvette Hastings and the core product of my company is a food supplement for the menopause, a natural alternative to HRT / ERT.
Personal health circumstances resulted in having to return to my scientific roots and contacts to find something that could help, because HRT was not suitable for me post hysterectomy.
After a premature hysterectomy at 42 following dangerously large ovarian cysts, the results of years of endometriosis, I was put on HRT patches. At the time, this was before all the health scares and I had welcomed using them after my 6 week post-op check up. I remember sitting down on the sofa, hoping that they would kick in within half an hour or so, like taking paracetamol... I waited a long time and nothing happened. I was SO disappointed; it wasn't until afterwards that my gynae explained that HRT could take up to 3-4 weeks to work for some women. For me unfortunately, it just didn't do anything even after that time, and then I had some pretty nasty side effects with perpetual nausea and weight gain of nearly 1 stone! I was still falling asleep in the armchair, forgetting words halfway through sentences and bad sleep, night after night, had left me feeling completely drained. I just had to find something else!
A chance encounter at a pharmaceutical conference with a scientist from the National University of Singapore proved life-changing. They had been doing research to see if they could identify what foods helped asian women look and feel good for much longer than their western counterparts. The professor overseeing the project had theorised that it may help women in their menopause and was looking for volunteers - I grabbed my chance, nothing ventured, nothing gained. My gynae was totally supportive and read up on all the information that was provided by the University; he told me to go for it and I did! A small package soon arrived on my doorstep, containing a new food supplement derived from mung beans, a food source safely consumed in Asian diets for many generations.
Within a few days of trying it, I began to feel the difference - by day four, I knew it was working! The dreaded hot flushes were reducing: I had been having seven to eight an hour and that went down to two or three. Then I began to feel more energetic. By the end of the month, I was getting back to my normal extrovert self and sleeping through the night was sheer bliss! The added bonuses were that my hair loss stopped, my nails were growing long again and my skin started to go back to normal.
Now, nearly 10 years on since I took my first capsule, I'm still able to function in many ways that I know would not be possible if I didn't keep taking my Novanutri capsules.
Perhaps the most important thing I can offer you is the ability to ring and speak to someone who knows exactly what you are going through. I've campaigned and supported many local and national Menopause Awareness Programmes, with support from leading TV GP Dr Chris Steele MBE, Granada TV, BBC radio and many newspapers. Most recently, I was invited to speak at a Primary Care conference for GPs and nurses to outline a natural alternative solution - NHSteps Menopause - for patients who cannot, or do not wish to, take HRT.

As we mature, various functional, form and structure changes take place in and around the bladder. Age-related bladder issues for both women and men include three main conditions; weakened detrusor muscle, this is the muscle fiber that squeezes the bladder to empty it, overactive bladder and bladder outlet obstruction, this is most commonly seen in older men due to BPH. These changes contribute to a complexity of problems.
Weakened detrusor muscle - Within the bladder wall there is a layer of smooth muscle fibers. When the bladder is full the autonomic nervous system (ANS) which also controls heart rate, digestion and many other functions within the body, contracts this detrusor muscle; This squeezes the bladder and pushes the urine through the urethra and sphincters, and out of the body. Age reduces the ability of the detrusor muscle fibres to function fully. This reduction in muscle action means reduced emptying, reduced flow and an increased frequency in need to urinate.
Overactive bladder - Detrusor overactivity is the most common form of urinary incontinence in older adults. Uninhibited bladder contractions cause an uncontrollable urge to void. Urinary frequency increases (urinating more than 8 times a day) and urge incontinence and nocturnal incontinence occurs.
Please note: Lifestyle choices, i.e drinking excesses of tea, coffee and alcohol can be the cause of an increased urinary frequency.
Bladder outlet obstruction - Bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) is a blockage at the base of the bladder that reduces the flow of urine into the urethra. BOO can have many different causes, some serious, but is most commonly seen in aging men due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Although rarely the cause of BOO, Bladder stones and bladder cancer are also more commonly seen in men than women.
Menopause Test - Test for Menopause with this Testing Kit
Our Menopause Test kit is suitable to use at home, and measures the levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (F.S.H.) in a sample of your urine (includes 2 tests). High levels of F.S.H. can indicate that your body is entering menopause.
Menopause normally affects women between the ages of 45 and 55, but 5% of women can be affected at an earlier age. There are an estimated 5 million women going through the menopause at any one time.
- Simple, easy and accurate - Results at 5 minutes - Able to detect as low as 25 mIU/mL FSH
- Your GP can also perform a blood test to confirm the stage of your menopause. This will give you a numerical result, whereas these testers are less sophisticated (but less scary than a needle if you're anything like me!). As always, if you have any doubt about the interpretation of your results, please consult your GP.
